Who we are
indi.cafe is operated by AFSys Ltd. If you have any privacy-related questions, please contact us at support@afsys.uk.
What data we collect and why
- — Location coordinates. If you click "Use My Location", your browser shares your GPS coordinates with our server solely to find nearby coffee shops. We do not store, log, or share your coordinates.
- — Search addresses. Addresses or postcodes you type are sent to our server for geocoding. We do not store or log these queries.
- — Server access logs. Our hosting provider (Vercel) automatically records standard web server logs — IP address, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps. These are retained for security and diagnostic purposes in accordance with Vercel's Privacy Policy.
Advertising and cookies
We use Google AdSense to display advertisements. Before any advertising script or cookie loads, we show a cookie consent banner where you can accept or decline.
If you accept, the AdSense script loads and Google may set advertising cookies on your device to serve ads. If you decline, the AdSense script never loads and no advertising cookies are set — you'll simply see no ads.
You can review and change Google's personalised advertising settings at any time via Google Ads Settings, or opt out of interest-based advertising via Your Online Choices.
For more information on how Google uses data when you use our site, see How Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Google Places API
Coffee shop data is retrieved from the Google Places API. Your location or search query is sent to Google's servers to perform the search. This is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
Your rights
If you are in the UK or European Union, you have the following rights under UK GDPR / GDPR:
- —Access: request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
- —Erasure: request deletion of your personal data.
- —Withdraw consent: clear your browser's local storage for indi.cafe to be shown the cookie banner again, or visit Google Ads Settings to manage Google's ad personalisation directly.
- —Complain: lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
Because we do not store your location or search data, there is typically no personal data for us to provide or delete beyond what is held in Vercel's server logs.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
